first_img The BBC is inviting nominations of inspiring people who make a difference in other people’s lives to be rewarded by taking part in the first People’s Strictly Come Dancing.The broadcaster announced:“For the first time ever, the team that brings you Strictly Come Dancing is opening its dance floor to the public and we’re looking for inspiring everyday heroes to go on this incredible journey”.This is clearly an unusual opportunity for charities to reward their outstanding supporters and volunteers. As the BBC says, the kind of people it expects to be nominated include “tireless charity workers, foster parents, emergency services workers or simply those who have done such extraordinary things for others that their story must be told”.Applicants must be 18 years old or over. the closing date for nominations is 31 October 2014.It’s certainly an unusual opportunity and different to the standard awards ceremonies for outstanding volunteers and supporters.That said, there are plenty of charities that have run or benefited from Strictly-type fundraising events, so maybe review all your fundraising dance events and see which organisers or participants deserve this reward.You can find about more about The People’s Strictly from the BBC.
